J Balvin, is a Colombian reggaeton singer. Balvin was born in Medellín, the largest city of Antioquia, where he became interested in rap, dancehall, champeta and bachata at a young age. He is known for his songs “Yo Te Lo Dije”, “Tranquila”, “Ay Vamos” and “6 AM”.

I’m great! I’m great! Really grateful for what’s going on in my life. So I’m super happy about everything.
You had a global success with the song ‘Tranquila’ and it’s watched more than 184 million! What’s the story of this song? What did you think when you heard that the song was a big success? And what’s the story of the song 6 AM?
I heard that ‘ In the beginning it was like a dream. I didn’t believe till people called me, wrote to me. I thought ‘what was going on over there’. So when they called us for shows I was like ‘okay this is true’! Now, this is still like a dream because you know it’s a Spanish song and they don’t even know what I’m saying but they are feeling the music, so this is so amazing! It’s a dream! The story of the song is basically about the movie ‘Hangover’. I don’t know if you have seen it. So it’s about a crazy party and about the day after. You don’t know what you did last night.
Who were your big supporters in your music carrier?
My family! 100%. Since day 1 they were always supporting me. That’s why I called my album ‘La Familia’. People supporting me with much love and they don’t care what’s going on, they are always there with me in all the positive and the negative.
Do you know some Turkish artists? Have you ever been in Turkey?
I heard about some Turkish artists. I don’t really remember the name but he was doing like his own version of ‘Tranquila’ and I think it was very cool. I’ve never been in Turkey before but I really wanna go. So take me!
Let’s talk about your new album ‘La Familia’ with who did you work on this album? What’s your favorite song on this album?
‘La familia’ is not my new album, it’s my first album. I worked with Sky. He’s my producer for the last 3 years. It’s been amazing. Sky is the new blood in the production world and in the Latin music market. He’s even going further than that. My favorite song of the album is ‘Ay Vamos’. On the B-Side of my ‘My Familia’ album it is one of the best songs I have and I love it!
what are the upcoming projects?
Well take over the world and keep making hits because it’s about making hits and making history.
What are you listening right now?
Right now I’m listening to Sia, to Drake’s new album, the latest three tracks of Rihanna and of course to reggaeton. I love reggaeton!
If you want to do a collaboration with an artist who will that be?
Well, I wanna do a collaboration with Rihanna, Drake or Justin Bieber .This is one of my big dreams and targets. We gonna keep working to make that happen. It’s all about good music.
What do you think about ‘The music of now’ ?
Music is besides my family the most important thing in my life. I think the music of right now is going more universal than ever because all the social media and the internet makes it easier for the artist to spread the music all around the world so ‘music is a blessing’ and this is how I see it.
