Your real name is Luca Pecoraro and you created Todiefor out of it. How did you decide to use that name as your stage name? What’s the meaning of the name for you?

At first, I wanted some “catchy” name back in 2011-2012 ,at the early time when I was making my first music. Then I decided to got first with “Lu-K” as my real name is “Luca” but finally ended up with some weird idea to combine letters and numbers and it was litterally “2D4” , but to be honnest it was pretty lame haha so it slowly became Todiefor (as TWO – D  – FOUR)

Since 2013 you released your music on Soundcloud. Which experiences did you earn from releasing your songs on Soundcloud before and how did you signed with „Back In The Dayz Belgium“?

I released my first music on soundcloud and youtube, I think like almost every other kid that was trying to make music at the age of 17-18 haha! But it teached me a lot since I was handling all aspect of music ; – I was producing, mixing, mastering, then publishing , get some label (or not), release music myself, get some people to share my music, do some social media marketing and such!

Then in early 2015 I’ve met Max, CEO of “Back In The Dayz” a booking and management company here in Belgium, and now Max is my full time manager and tour manager. We get along real quick and thanks to him and the fact that he believed in me, he pushed me forward to release more and more music and then eventually sign with some label and get my first real bookings!

You already have more than 2.500.000 streams on Spotify, YouTube and Soundcloud. How does it feel to be one of the most important Belgian DJs who gained important success?

I don’t think i’m one of the most important belgian DJ’s, I first think about people such as Netsky, Lost Frequencies, Eptic, Apashe , The Magician, Henri PFR, … But it’s a true blessing to have more and more people interested in what I make and I what I can do as a musician and producer!

You represent Belgium at the international internet song contest called „NorthVision Song Contest 22“ and reached the finals for Belgium with your song „Beautiful“ featuring Helen. What do you think about the competition and how would you describe the success and style of the song?

To be honnest I wasn’t really aware about that competition and it feels so great ! The backstory of the song is really about a friendship between Helen and myself!

I’ve sent an email to Helen about a track she did on “Trap Nation”, I really loved her style and voice, so I’ve sent her some beats and she particularely loved the track that is known now as “Beautiful”, then we rapidely met in real life, took Studio sessions and we’ve somehow managed to write 5 songs together!

Your latest single „Never Met You“ featuring Helen has a typical style as „Beautiful“. How did the collobration happen and what do you think about the outcome of the song? What can we expect from you in the future?

As I said, we were so close and loved working together that Helen came twice in Belgium so we could work together and do some promo and stuff !

At first, we didn’t knew “Beautiful” would get such an excitment here in Belgium (and somehow Worldwide thanks to MTV and some radios!), The second track we did together “Never Met You” is really close to the style of Beautiful, I think it blends perfectly what we both like at the moment.

I was way more into Future Bass style of song like Mura Masa, Flume, DJ Snake, and she really loved some heartbreaking lyrics and style of voice like Sampha and Lorde that we wrote song super quickly !
